Hello everyone (kalo Chorio)

We are looking a house there that needs work. I am writing to ask if anyone knows this village, or potentially has a property there?

Google Earth is not great for detail, so my question is.... Did recent quakes have an effect on this village in particular please?

I thank you very much in advance for any reply.

Question.... have you not visted the property first and are just going by an online adert?

If so, BIG mistake. Always visit the property first. I have seen so many people scammed, even with the agent showing the property on WhatsApp which happens not to be the property they bought. Using a lawyer or surveyor recomended by the agent is another NO go, quite often to be a relative of the agent and un licenced.

There are more than 40 earthquakes a DAY in Greece. Even though this particular village hasn’t experienced an earthquake yet, that doesn’t mean it never will…

To be honest, there have been 5 earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 5 RS and more than 50 with a magnitude greater than 4 RS within a 50 km radius over the last 6 years.

Believe it or not, even at 50 km away, these magnitudes can affect your home. And yes, you will feel it.

Kind regards,...

Greece is the most seismically active country in Europe and experiences an average of about 25,000 earthquakes per year, which breaks down to roughly 36 to 80 earthquakes per day.However, there is no need to worry. The vast majority of these tremors are micro-earthquakes (magnitudes between 1.0 and 2.0) that are completely undetectable to humans.

Because minor tremors are a daily reality, Greece enforces extremely strict structural building codes and engineering regulations to ensure public safety. Significant or damaging earthquakes are quite rare.

@SimCityAT

What if you're living in a building that was built prior to the implementation of said codes?

@ElJay315

Sprry I dont know, you would have to seek expert advise.

@ElJay315

Then it's probably withstood several earthquakes already without falling down or sustaining major damage... 😎

It might help if you were to specify exactly which village of that name you're referring to - I believe that there are at least 13 settlements with the same, or very similar, name in Greece...
