Preventive care? Lucky to get proper care when ill here in many cases.

I have have several medical issues in the past 15 years and honestly about half the doctors could really care less.

Had knee surgery 10 or 11 years ago. Went back to the surgeon for my check up a week afterwards; Knee was still swollen and all he said was, I did my best! Hopped around on crutches for about close to a year then used a cane, went to the US and got real PT; In less then 2 months of PT I ditched the cane and walked normal again;

About once a year or so flyers are put in the postbox inviting people to get a hearing exam.

We took them up on it, my hearing was better then 聽 聽 a hound dog;

I got to walk over to the local mayor of our district that day, he just showed up with a few people. I just blurted out in my American English, How ya doing Mr; Mayor and shook his hand! The look on bis face was worth it all!

No here and there they have community centers for seniors that offer exercise classes and or yoga. Went to check it out once a few years back. The teacher did not show up. I could of lead a simple yoga class even without the language skills but honestly the women there seemed more interesting in chatting then working out.Just left and never returned.

They do give slight and I mean slight discounts at spas for senors but that is about the only health benefit I have found here as far as prevention.

PS, pre knee surgery they did send my to get PT here in Hungary. IDK what to say, the poor therapists had to do with equipment from the 1950s. Even the exercise bikes were broken.They tried but had little support.

I know there are several good private therapists around but it is pay to play. Not covered by TAJ.

@Cheryl

Depends what you consider to be preventive, in my time I had a cataract operation and cholesterl pills, also once per 6 months blood was tested. (In prior posts I mentioned nothing to complain in Hungary). We also got a few Corona injections.

Most of the adults will get cataract sooner or later, better to take when needed.
