OK, to cut a long story short I am thinking of moving to Milan to be with my boyfriend. Oh yes, I am one of those girls who happened to meet a fantastic Italian man whilst on my travels and want to be with him permanently rather than Skyping all the time!

I was born in Scotland (and subsequently have an EU passport) however I was raised in Dubai in the Middle East for twelve years before my folks decided we should move to Australia.

I have university qualifications in psychology/counselling/health and currently work with male prisoners who are due to be released from prison. I also have qualifications in teaching english as a second language.

I am currently working on my Italian language skills by studying with a tutor here in Australia, and perfecting my skills on Skype with my boyfriend and completing an online course. Needless to say I have a lot of work to do on the language front.

I have recently returned from Brugherio (outside of Milan) where I spent three weeks with my boyfriend, and I am booked to go back in October for another three weeks.

I would like to ask those on the site how they have found the move to Milan? One of my main concerns is seeking work given the current economic climate. My friends think I am crazy for wanting to move to Italy given my employment here in Australia, but I would rather be happy, than be here earning good money but unhappy. I am also curious to know how people have found work, was it through recruitment agencies, visiting schools to teach english, is there a website with job postings for people who speak English as mother tongue, is there a section each week in the paper?

Any advice would be much appreciated...I don't want to go into this without being fully informed.
