Hi Designs,

well, a puppy will not stay a puppy! So the dog will probably not be with you in the plane but in a pet carrier in the pet hold unless it is a very small race and the airline allows.

Your pet will need a pet passport and all vaccinations to travel but regulations can change from country to country and from airline to airline.

Here in Malta and for the pet passport the dog will have to be micro chipped. Make sure the animal is healthy and it might be best to have a vet of your choice examine the dog to avoid dissapointment,cost and worry.

If it's your first time you have a dog, you should consider to give an adult dog a new home. Most of them are already house trained, know the basic commandos and behavior, are microchipped and vaccinated.

You can visit SPCA, The Island Sanctuary, DogsTrust etc. where you can get general infos about dogs, important infos about which  breed fits best to you ... and you can also take one of their dogs
If you are not sure, you can chose one dog and make regular walks with it and learn to know each other.

If you insist on a puppy, take care where it comes from, that it is healthy and in good shape and that is was at least it's first 8 weeks together with the mother and the other puppies. This is very important because it's the basic socialising.

matm, thank you i will look in malta park, and i need a small puppy because my apartment is small no garden so small is perfect for me
and i adore the pug they are very funny and lovely

A couple of things to do before getting a puppy. Check with your landlord and other people in your apartment block that it is OK.
Is there someone at home all day who can train the puppy?
It will need a litter tray as it may not be allowed out untill its had all its injections and you have no garden. If left on its own it can and probably will chew, eat, and destroy anything it can get its teeth into.
Please , please think before you go ahead and buy one, the last thing we need is another dog in our already overcrowded sanctuarys. The best option is to try before you buy, go to a sanctuary and talk to the volunteers, walk a few dogs.
If you don't have time to do this then you probably don't have time to train  a puppy.

thank you Terry, i did train a lot of cats before... but a dog this si a first time, and yes i still have time as i'm not working until now! but i'll go with your advice and go to a sanctuary to see the dogs ... but i reaallly love them was a dream from year to own a dog but my husband was hesitating ! and now he's ok with it
