Things to do New Years Eve??

Does anyone know of any organised 'events' near St Julians/Sliema way on Hogmanay that would be suitable for a family? Ie are there any street events/fireworks or would it be down to going to a hotel for a party 'package deal'?

New Year's Eve night bus service from Valletta
Arriva Malta is offering a special night bus service for New Year聮s Eve, from Valletta direct to various localities.
Special tickets will be available for 聙2.50 as of today, and can be bought from all Arriva Ticket Booths and resellers.
The tickets include the trip from Valletta to a locality and a journey on the regular bus service from one聮s home to Valletta.

Gabriel Radvansky, professor of psychology at the University of Notre Dame, had subjects perform a series of memory tasks and then had them either walk through a door into another room, or walk the same distance but stay in the room. They used both simulated environments and real-world situations.
The findings, published in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, stated that subjects passing through the doorways found it harder to recall specifics.

Radvansky explains: 聯Entering or exiting through a doorway serves as an 聭event boundary聮 in the mind, which separates episodes of activity and files them away.
聯Recalling the decision or activity that was made in a different room is difficult because it has been compartmentalised.聰
In the final stage of the test, he led subjects through several doorways and returned them to where they began to see if the memories were associated with that room, but their memories showed no signs of improvement, suggesting that it was the doors聮 fault.

Ow do Mick!

Rose is going to be really peeved when she comes back from the shops to find all our doors in the back garden.聽 I had an inkling it was them as I often hear them talking behind my back too.

Generally, men have a far greater tendency to compartmentalise their thinking, it's what makes us different. It's also how things from the far and distant past can be suddenly brought up, by (usually) women, that seem totally irrelevant to the topic of discussion. I now have a gender identity crisis

And yet it's men in business that thought up all the ridiculous phrases like:
Blue Sky thinking, Thinking out of the box, Looking at the bigger picture etc etc !

Woman don't just multi task well, they have minds like computers, trigger a key and we will give you your history, the present and your future......

Continuing to go right off topic

...........I cannot remember the number of meetings I had to attend and hear those ridiculous phrases. We had a plain English policy but never adhered to it!
I tell you, Social Workers were worst for this.

Damnnn! I still have to attend those meetings......and Mick, with the 'break-up' of the social services and the re-organisation - I now struggle with the 'generation' that are charged with looking after our society.......and believe me; to educate what's left is taking its toll on me (and my colleagues).聽 2013....the year 'others' (Romania et al) join this benefit merry-go-round is going to be tough. Ever seen 'Mission Impossible' where they light the 'fuse' - that's me and Rose counting down to escape the implosion.

So with some 360 degree thinking outside of the blue sky box, singing from the same sheet by keeping others in the loop, we could keep this finely balanced situation, weighted heavily toward the original poster parked off-line for the moment, whilst others push the envelope on this.

Happy 2013 to everyone......if that's not too corporate.聽

Edit.........those (censored) doors are doing my head in Mick.

We got off to a bit of a rocky start if i'm being honest Redmik but hoping the new year will be a fresh start.聽 The little one is loving being outdoors all the time which is exactly what we wanted.聽 Looking forward to when it gets a little warmer tho so I dont have to walk around with 4 jumpers on at home!
