Using cheques

GuestPoster566

Is it worth having a cheque book for our Malta bank account? Are cheques used on Malta/Gozo.
I ask as cheques are hardly used at all in UK and I have only had to use a debit card, thus far on Malta/Gozo.
Thanks.

We use ours to pay our landlord (at his request). So we certainly find them usefull.

we used our cheque book to pay our old landlord too.

id still have one as long as its free - present landlord prefers online payments. although it has to be said we do use it occasionally. it has come in handy once or twice.

He is a proper registered landlord (a rare breed in Malta) supplied the form to get services transfered into our name without prompting!
I will cheque  with MOH to see what other things we pay by cheque.

Yes, quite useful.
BTW, some shops prefer cheques (not credit cards) since it's cheaper for the merchant

georgeingozo

yes, worth having

I used to pay both my previous landlords cheques, but now since I pay by bank transfer I never use the cheque book anymore. I use a (maltese) debit card or cash in shops.
