Should I relocate or stay in my Country?

Lholho29

Hi everyone
I am an Engineer by profession from South Africa, I've met a guy from Netherlands and he wants me to relocate to Netherlands. But my fear is I have a good job here wouldn't it be a problem for me to find employment since I don't speak the Dutch language? I understand that it's similar to Afrikaans and I do understand a bit of Afrikaans.

Hello,

Don't worry, as Engineer, you can easily find an English-speaking job ;)

Hi and thanks for the response; your profession is not regulated in Holland, so assuming there is a demand for what you do, you should be able to get work.

My experience of job searching in Holland is that you need 4 things to get a decent job:

1.  Relevant experience
2.  Relevant qualifications
3.  Speak the local language
4.  Luck

The more you have ticked off, the better chance you have of getting work.

At the top of the page is our Handy Tools section; in there you'll find our Expat ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº, where you'll find articles written that may help you plan your move.  Once you've read through those, if you have any further questions, please come back to us.

Hope this helps; best of luck in your journey. :)

Ah indeed... For civil engineer, Dutch is probably mandatory.
