Advice Needed - Tax on income from own overseas business.

SammyFlo

Hi everyone,

I was hoping somebody could give me some advice or perhaps has had experience in these matters. I run a freelance consulting business that is registered in Australia.  I have clients in various countries that I deal with, and they are invoiced by my Australian based business, with the money going straight to Australia, and taxes for that money also being paid in Australia. I started a PhD in the Netherlands, but the business situation remains the same, and nothing goes through the Netherlands.  I suppose I will need to report my worldwide income, but am at risk of also being taxed for this by the Netherlands too? How can I avoid such a situation? I am also on the 30% tax ruling and can therefore apply as a partial non-resident if that changes anything.

Any help would be really great.

Kindest regards,
Sammy

There is a tax agreement between Australia and the Netherlands, so no double taxation.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The tax agreement can be read here ().  Read article 2 and it tells you which taxes are covered by the agreement; you will note that it does not cover Dutch social taxes; my advice is to speak to a Tax Advisor.

Hope this helps.
