The status of dependent working visa after quitting

mikee3

Hi everyone,

I am a PhD student working under highly skilled immigrant (HSM) status. My partner will start a job based on my working permit. My question is, what happens if I quit and could not find a job within 3 months? Can my partner still continue working? If yes, can I continue for searching a job, depending on my partner's visa?

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

If you quit the job which was the basis of you being granted a residence visa, then you need to notify the IND, they will decide what further action is required.

I don't think they will necessarily ask you both to leave, but it will depend on your circumstances.

Hope this helps.
