Moving to Romania from the UK

Hi everyone,

I just wonder if anyone has recently moved to Romania from the UK and wishes to share tips regards removals transport and introducing their belongings into the country.

Have there been any import duties , VAT charges incurred?

Any issues with the customs and what transport company would you recommend?

We moved to Arges 8 years ago. We discovered a week before our furniture was due to arrive that you MUST go to visit a Romanian notary & give your removal firm in Romania legal permission to collect & deliver to you your house contents . Ours were in a container in Constanta & collected by Orbit Transport Romania. Make sure that you have a copy of the inventory. We lost a few things which somehow did not get here! We didn't take out the very expensive extra insurance offered by the removal company in England.聽 The English removal company paid up reluctantly on their own liability insurance,

The family and I will be moving to Bucharest (due to work) likely in the new year. Getting my first taste of Romania tomorrow when I head to our Bucha office and then team building trip to Mamaia resort...
