Keeping up with the news in Spain

Hello everyone,

Living in Spain provides countless occasions to browse local newspapers, listen to local radio stations or watch local TV shows. As everywhere else in the world, local media play a key role in informing the public.

What are the major media in Spain? Which one do you use on a regular basis?

How do you keep up with international issues (newspapers, radio, TV, Internet)?

The main TV channels like RTVE, Antena3, Cuatro, Sexta etc have their main bulletins on the telly at around 2.30/3 and 8.30/9

News on the radio is generally on the hour with flagship programmes in the breakfast/going to work, lunchtime and early evening (8) slots. SER is the most popular and RTVE the least though I actually find radio Nacional easiest to follow. RTVE or I suppose more accurately RNE has an all news type programme in Radio 5.

Print media - el Pa铆s, El Mundo, ABC, 20minutos etc all have online versions and I use one of the replacements for the Google news reader for RSS type feeds on my mobile phone. There is an el Pa铆s in English on the web too which is good if you just want the key stuff and in English.

There are also innumerable English language sites with Spanish news. Google finds them with no problem.

A good source for local stuff is to like the page of your local town hall so just put ayuntamiento wherever into Facebook search, like the official page and you will never miss another local fiesta or not know why they are digging up such and such a street.

I read the free ex-pat newspapers produced in my area mainly euro weekly Costa blanca north and round town times.
Mind you they tend to not be as clear as what is happening events wise prior to the event unlike the Costa blanca news which is produced every week and costs a couple of euros. Definitely better to pay for a newspaper to really have a聽 thorough update of what's going on when and where. Great articles too.
Radio station wise bay radio and cool fm are both really good radio stations. Bay radio is more informative

I have found the following links to be a very useful guide and mine of information. Several of them are regionally oriented but one could type in the region to search for region-specific news and information. Links found within these websites provide further useful tips and news. Additionally, one could also keep up to date by signing up for newsletters on the selected sites.

Do you mean English news.聽 I go to filmon.com聽聽You can watch any BBC regional news programmes as well as any programme on UK TV channels.聽 You cannot access regional news on ITV there, there is only ITV London.聽聽If you are not British there are lots of other countries TV channels too. like Canada etc.
