Of course depending on Brexit, Brits may we鈥檒l become non EU.聽 If that happens Brits could find things a lot more difficulty to be allowed to settle in Spain
Just one example.聽 Non EU nationals at present need around 27,000 per year income to qualify as residents
thank you

Hi,
I have the same problem, all i know is that if u stay more than 3 month , have to apply for residence, and u can buy property easier, u have to talk with a realtor.
As for taxes, u have to pay taxes where your permanent residence is.Good luck
Florin F., Ab, Canada
As a non EU national one needs to obtain RESIDENCIA.聽 聽There is a lot of info re that online
On the tax question.聽 聽 That is governed by an agreement between Spain and Canada.聽 聽This may help

Hi Bono,
I am originally from Romania,聽 but live and work in Edmonton since 1997 i speak to u in English as not sure if forum rules allow a different language.
We intend to retire early and move back or do snowbirding to Europe, Spain or France, but my wife preffer Spain, so we r looking to Costa del Sol.
I might go and check that out on next spring, however if u want to go that area and interested in properties, i am working with a realtor from Marbella, u can talk with him if u want.

So any mums out there with children would be good to hear from.
Also any help, advise on removals, lawyers even estate agents would be good. We are looking to rent first until we find the property we want to buy. Any suggestions would be great.

Hope you doing well theses day!
I could take you to admit in a free Spanish course
I'm a refugee from the UK weather and am renting in Alicante which is great so far.
Am also in process of getting NIE and residency docs for intermediate term i.e. more than 90 days less than 183 ?
I may look at buying house out here later but will see how things are after the UK/EU situation settles down (assuming it ever will that is)..
Anyway enjoying the dry climate and exellent sunshine in meantime.
I am moving to Guadalajara this Christmas. I would love to meet any friends to do language exchange or learn Spanish.
Thanks
Myles
You may find it is a mistake to MOVE to spain before the end of the The spanish financial year (31st Dec).
Come in December,聽 but maybe do not DECIDE TO MOVE here until after 1st Jan. That could mean you may legally avoid significant tax liabilities.
My spanish is ok , i learned by myself, with the taxes dont see any problem unless u have serious income, which is not my case, just a small pension, and i just might to do a snowbirding thing, becouse the health care, which in Alberta is free and solid, bye, Florin
I'm so glad to have found this forum!! I'm in the process of obtaining Spanish citizenship thru their offer聽 to Jews of Sephardic descent. My great grandmother was born in Istanbul, and I was raised in a mixed sephardic/ashkenazi household. I'm now retired, living in New England, and planning on moving to M谩laga - at least for the winter months. My wife and I are both fluent.
I have tons of questions about life in Spain, from customs to legalities (I hope I don't become a pest). I'm also happy to share what I do know about the process I used, or anything I can help you with. Thank you all in advance!

I will be applying for the non-lucrative visa in Toronto. Which city are you in? Apart from the extensive paperwork, I understand every consulate has their own sub-rules about income/savings requirements,聽 getting an apartment lease contract in Spain before applying, etc. I would therefore appreciate hearing from applicants at the Toronto consulate, which could help us both. We could also compare notes on our progress through this process to ensure our application is correct.

I am looking for someone who can practice Dutch with 5 year old son.
We have been living in Holland for 3 years.

聽 聽i have been enjoying Spain for two months now .i am Ghanaian. whats new in Madrid?
I have been to Spain a couple of times looking to buy a property which will eventually become my full time home. I have been disappointed on a couple of occasions in my quest. I shall follow your advice and am already searching for another property to buy - paperwork to be done in January, hopefully.
Thank you for your detailed information.

Looking forward to relocate and trust to have positive feedback

My name is James. I reside now in the Chicago area in the USA. I鈥檓 an a US citizen. Newly married to Nedialka (Nellie) since May 11, 2018. I鈥檓 66 and my wife is 64. We still work and plan to retire in a few years. The cost of living in the USA is going up every year and we thought it be a good idea to live-out the rest of our years together in Europe. Nellie is from Bulgaria, so that is one of the possible places. I have been there 2x for a few weeks each time and love it there. Spain is a country we would like to explore the possibility of living. We plan on spending some time in Alicante at an Airbnb and explore this town. There are so many places to explore and discover. I feel the Mediterranean is calling me. I loved a few years in Roma, Italia and also lived in Venezuela &聽 Costa Rica. Nellie lived her first 37 years in Bulgaria and the last 28 years in Chicago....all that to say, where do we start? Any suggestions?
We have never visited Spain so we are thinking of renting in Spain for a year or so to see if it will suit us permanently.
We have put off planning because of the uncertainties caused by Brexit, but we're still keen on the idea. We believe we can save money on renting and day to day living by moving to Spain.
We have 3 cats who would have to come with us. Any experiences of transporting cats, and keeping them safe and healthy abroad, would be welcome.
聽 If you spend 183 days in spain, as.above, you also automatically become tax resident and liable to declare and become taxable on your worldwide income
So spending a year in spain entails liabilities
Roddycam wrote:Are estate agents legally liable for reporting that someone is renting for more than three months?
Simple answer.聽 No
I like your humor! ..and your mission to help others.
