You probably get blogs like this one all the time....but here goes!!  I am a South African who has lived in U.K. for nearly 18 years, and cannot take the climate any longer.  I would love to move back to Cape Town, but I have grown-up children who have made lives for themselves in Wales, and I don't want to be too far awaya from them.

So, we have decided to move to Spain - Alicante and Valencia regions. My husband, Ken, and I will be moving at the end of April and don't really know where to begin.  We would love some advise from experienced ex-pats. There are so many decisions to make.  E.G. is it best to buy a LHD car here, or in Spain?  In U.K. we have the security of knowing that 拢50,000 of one's savings, is guaranteed by U.K government, should the bank go bust.  What about in Spain?  We have old NIE Nos. How do we renew them?  What areas are nice and green (to live in)?

Finally,  I believe there is a South African community in Alicante.  I would love to make contact with some of them.

Oh, the list goes on and on!!!
