oh hey Dennis, what happened to Germany?? Lol I changed my mind too, Vietnam is a little too scary for me. A helpful piece of info that I recently found out is that the best time to leave to go to Spain is August, as the school year begins mid September. If you went in May you could possibly get a job for a summer camp, but those are harder to get and fewer. Other than that I just keep seeing you have to get there and "pound the pavement."

I plan on leaving early August, will I likely see you there??

hey Christine, ive been posting messages on all the different country fourms lol... Ive been learning Germany is a hard country to teach English in... im not quite sure where to go, but Spain is def an option ... ive also been looking into Turkey and Taiwan..听 If you still want to consider Asia you should look at Taiwan!!!

I teach English in Barcelona and I have taught in Madrid. Madrid pays better than Barcelona, however it depends what you are looking for- they are quite different.
You can send emails to schools with your CV but really the best way to get work is once you get here ( pounding the pavement! )and also once you are here you麓ll meet people and you麓ll find that word of mouth is a large part of getting work and getting useful advice about working conditions in schools etc - the teaching community is very important for this in the beginning.

Groups like the one below are designed to bring newcomers together and provide support. On the website they also have useful info about language schools in Bcn, shopping etc.

They are getting stricter with regards to working papers, so it麓s best to have them in order.
When to come? It麓s true that the school year starts mid Sept / beginning Oct depending on type of course, in a school or in company. Start putting feelers out after Easter, though you probably won麓t get confirmation of hours until the beginning of Sept. If you come in August, don麓t be surprised if schools are closed-most schools are shut in August (or at least part of it)but you could come in August to try and get yourself settled in if you haven麓t been before. If you have been before I would wait until the end of August or the first week of Sept because tourist things are open but business in Bcn doesn麓t start again until Sept.
