Moving to Canary Island with a big dog

Hiltrud

Hello: I am born in Germany and moved to the USA when I was in my early thirties. Now that I am retired I am considering moving to one of the Canary Islands for a couple of years. I have a German Shepherd dog (large, 45kg) who is very friendly and mostly used to walk beaches and woods off leash. I would love to hear from folks what life is like in the Canaries with a big dog and maybe what Island offers the best life quality for dogs (and their owners).

Dogs are not allows on any beaches in the Canary Islands, big dogs have to be muzzled and kept on a lead.

Thank you, Boseley, for this information. This would sure be a big change for my boy.
I will have to give this careful consideration.
