You should come to Neuchâtel once

I use to live in Môtiers with its champagne cave, the history with Jean-Jaques Rousseau, now where absinthe is made. I worked in Peseux. The Vals de Travers was where I fell in love with Switzerland. Of course, Neuchâtel was the closest city.

Great region to explore and just let your eyes be happy at the beauty.

I can highly recommand Lucerne with its "4 Cantons"-Lake. I go there with 120 students every year and it is a really nice city. Then, Geneva, of course with also its Lake but more for its international culture.

You can try to get a Full Pass Day Ticket for trains (CFF - SBB - FFS). With it, you travel how much you want through Switzerland and get off in small villages whenever you want. It is really interesting when it is cold outside but you can still see the mountains from inside the train (big windows).

It depends for sure where you stay. If you are in the French, the German or the Italian part.

Most of the town halls have limited passes for 35 or 40 (I haven't checked this year) for travel all day anywhere in Switzerland. An annual subscription (or up to three years) means half price on Swiss trains and in some cities reductions on buses and trams. Also some tourist rides such as boats and cables.
