Second Swiss Citizenship

Elizaquilt

Hello.

I need help.聽 My dad was born in Switzerland and recently passed away. I am first generation American but always wanted my Swiss citizenship. I would like to move to Switzerland.

I don't know where to start to acquire my Swiss citizenship and would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you.

Hey there,
Have you tried tracing your family roots to Switzerland?
Maybe you have relatives here who can help facilitate things for you more easily 鈽濓笍馃檪馃挕

Hi, for some reason my reply of yesterday did not get thru. 馃し鈥嶁檪锔 I surely can endorse those replies you already received and just like to add, check the chapter NATURALIZATION under this will answer numerous questions as well as the side provides a lot of other info about living in CH.

Best of luck 馃崁馃崁馃崁

Hey,

I am myself a binational (Swiss and French) and have lived for some time in the US.

My guess is that you should first ask for registration as a Swiss citizen in the US, by calling the Swiss consulate or embassy in NY. I guess they will not ask you to provide too many documents. Probably just a copy of your dad鈥檚 Swiss passport and your own birth certificate. (Indeed being child of a Swiss citizen, this is sufficient to grant you Swiss citizenship.)聽 Then the consulate/embassy will be able to make a Swiss ID and a Swiss passport for you.

Good luck !
