My name is Karthik. I am from Bangalore, India. I am keen on finding a job in Ukraine and my future goal is indeed to settle down in Ukraine if possible. I am a software engineer and have a three year work experience. I also have a recent Management MSc from The University of Nottingham, UK. I need some guidance from you guys. Please let me know if the Ukrainian companies would be willing to hire people from India and would be willing to sponsor a working visa, or would I have to apply for a visa and look for a job there. I would also like to know if I do obtain a visa, how easy would it be for an expat to find a job there?
- Thanks and Regards,
 Karthik

Greetings to everyoneoleggy wrote:I think for anyone considering the move to Ukraine in hopes of finding a job it is important to realize that for all of its European feel and at times posh flare the country is still a very poor, backward and unreformed (from Soviet times) place. Even in the capital salaries rarely exceede $500/month average, food prices are on par with the rest of Europe and industrial products (anything imported) cost twice as much. In addition accomodations and real estate prices in general (especially in the capital) are very high (a small studio appartment close to Kiev city center goes for $700-800 and approximatly $400 on the outskirts). Then there is corruption, falling appart infrastructure and bad governance... Simply put - make your own decisions, but make them informed ones
Second to that,
Rate of life is constantly declining.
Unofficial rate of unemployment is 25%.
Only jobs as Foreign language teacher or translator are safe for foreigners. In other jobs foreigners can be forced to leave by colleagues even if manager want them to stay.
Ukraine can be unsafe for not white foreigners.
Avoid talking in native language on street at late night.
Ollegy is too soft to say about corruption. There is CORRUPTION.
& I agree with oleggy: "Even in the capital salaries rarely exceede $500/month average, food prices are on par with the rest of Europe and industrial products (anything imported) cost twice as much".
Unfortunately...
I've came back from Germany 1 month ago, so there was a more cheapest life then in Kiev.

I am an accountant in big international account company (in Ukraine), and I can tell you for sure that it is not easy to find a job for foreigner here. You should have special permition for that. 1.Russian/Ukrainian Language
2.Work permit
but it is not very easy to find a job here in Ukraine because even the Ukrainians find it difficult to find a good job for themselves.
I am trained from SKODA SERVICE SCHOOLÂ Â CZECH REPUBLIC and for diagnostics, training diagnostic technicians.
Apart from having a through knowledge in Diagnostics, part failure findings, writing reviews on Automotive, Engine design and VOLKSWAGEN management systems have always had the capability of good communication skills and excellent command over written and spoken English and i am learning Russian as i work now in Tashkent Uzbekistan.
I am quite eager to be based in Ukraine.

Thank you,

Yeah, it is funny though how the government types don't make very much salary, but drive brand new luxury Mercedes/Hummers, etc. Weird.
