JOB Opportunity - Kuwait

sakss

HI Guys
Im new to this forum.

I just wanted to get some information regarding Kuwait. Im in the process of going for the final stage of interview with a Retail Group for grade 10 recruitment position. Im a British National and would be hired from the UK. From experience what kind of salaries and benefits should I ask for or expect?

More over what is the cost of living like in terms of accommodation ( ideally 2 bed furnished) , car and other living expenses? What kind of salary is good enough to survive for 3 people?

How easy is it to obtain visa for spouse or/and my parents?

Re: As of now the company is not paying medical insurance for my wife or family. Tickets are paid after 2 years. Relocation allowance is also NOT given.
How much does it cost to get a medical insurance for my wife ?

Is a salary of around 1300 KD all inclusive + bonuses towards the end of the year good enough to live?

I have live in UAE for 6 years , how does the cost of living compare to the UAE?

I would highly appreciate some guidance

Regards

sakss, as much as I would like to help you out, almost all of your questions have been already answered in the forum, some of theme even very recently. :-/
I recommend you spend some time reading the available information and then get back with any specific questions you may have.

sakss

Thank you Ribosom I had a look at other threads but still unclear about a few things.

- Is it easy to obtain visas for spouse and parents and what is the procedure?

- How much would a 2 bed furnished flat cost in a nice expat area?

Ribosom

About the family visa, I will let you know very soon as I am about to start the procedure myself tomorrow. :) My understanding is that once you have all the required documents the process is fairly quick and straightforward, but these things can change daily in Kuwait. Generally you need a salary certificate and attested marriage certificate...will let you know the latest in a few days.

About the second question, it can vary a lot. I would say that it starts around 400KWD and then goes up from there. It is worth considering an unfurnished one as they can be quite a bit cheaper and it is not that expensive to get the essentials at least.

THank you Ribosom

It would be appreciated . I would want to research all regarding laws and living style prior to making a move.

Regarding areas for expats what should I be looking at?

sakss

Good Luck with the visa ;)

Most people recommend Salmiya which I am not a big fan of. It is crowded and traffic is bad. My office is far away so I disqualified it immediately. Depends what you are looking for and where do you have to travel.

My office would  be based in Shuwaikh. No idea where that is? :S

Ribosom

That is just west of Kuwait City, unfortunately that and the surrounding areas are quite busy almost all of the time.

It took a wee bit longer but I did it.
I had to get my marriage and birth certificate translated to Arabic and get the appropriate forms filled in:

Someone who knows arabic will be of great help here.
Include the salary certificate from your employer, passport and Civil ID copies and you are good to go to the immigration office depending on the Governorate you are staying in. There wasn't a lot of people in my case, I was done in 30 minutes and 6KWD lighter. :)
They will ask you if you need a family visa or a visit visa. Of course, after getting the visa your wife needs to get a police certificate and medical, both attested by the Kuwait embassy in your country as she will  need it to finish the process here (within 60 days of arriving).

Ribosom
