I will never return - Damn beautiful!

I will never return (by Meena, founder of RAWA)

I聮m the woman who has awoken
I聮ve arisen and become a tempest through the ashes of my burnt children
I聮ve arisen from the rivulets of my brother聮s blood
My nation聮s wrath has empowered me
My ruined and burnt villages fill me with hatred against the enemy,
I聮m the woman who has awoken,
I聮ve found my path and will never return.
I聮ve opened closed doors of ignorance
I聮ve said farewell to all golden bracelets
Oh compatriot, I聮m not what I was
I聮m the woman who has awoken
I聮ve found my path and will never return.
I聮ve seen barefoot, wandering and homeless children
I聮ve seen henna-handed brides with mourning clothes
I聮ve seen giant walls of the prisons swallow freedom in their ravenous stomach
I聮ve been reborn amidst epics of resistance and courage
I聮ve learned the song of freedom in the last breaths, in the waves of blood and in victory
Oh compatriot, Oh brother, no longer regard me as weak and incapable
With all my strength I聮m with you on the path of my land聮s liberation.
My voice has mingled with thousands of arisen women
My fists are clenched with the fists of thousands compatriots
Along with you I聮ve stepped up to the path of my nation,
To break all these sufferings all these fetters of slavery,
Oh compatriot, Oh brother, I聮m not what I was
I聮m the woman who has awoken
I聮ve found my path and will never return

nice snd meaningfull lyrics
I dont usually comment on the forum but just this once maybe. I dont think this poem is beautiful. Agreed it comes from a heart full of sorrow and feelings of persecution. But it turns into a hatred which cannot be a "beautiful" feeling - ever.

Hatred never destroys enemies - it only consumes the one who gives it shelter. The one who hates any of God's creation cannot find solace in this life or after.

Finally it has a sense of misguided patriotism. A patriot is not someone who hates those born to other mothers - a patriot is one who loves and respects every mother as he would like his mother to be loved and respected.

Sorry if this hurts anyones feelings here.
on the contrary gotya, you could not be farther from the meaning of the poem.

im sure no one has to tell you about the lives of women in afghanistan, how they are mistreated etc. it is plastered all over the media.

this is an empowering poem, telling the rest that they need not be afraid, recollecting all the past horrors they have suffered, and refuse to suffer anymore.

it is not a poem of hatred, but of resistance, and acceptance that only you can decide to change your life.

read it again.
agreed.. legacy, you've hit the nail on the head with that one
Nice poem
