Thallasemia Care in Saudi Arabia for Expats

Hi I want to know about the situation of Thallasemia Care for children of expat employees in Saudi Arabia. Thallasemia is a disease which require monthly blood transfusion and drugs for reducing iron in the blood.

Do you want to know which hospitals can treat this? Whats your insurance? I believe any ministry of health hospital with a blood bank or national guard hospital would be able to hook you up?

Most probably the MoH will provide insurance, but I am not sure whether they offer insurance to expat children with this condition.
People who have this condition tell me that it is very difficult to get on registered in the Saudi system for this condition. Sometimes the blood transfusion is not arranged and sometime the essential drugs are not available for Thallasemia.
Would be much obliged if any one can look into the real situation on ground.

I am a U.S. Paramedic here in Riyadh and just asked one of the doctors I work with. He suggested you call shamasi hospital (however you spell it) unless you get a connection at King Faisael specialized hospital.
