Advice please

hello there. I really need advice. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and is currently undergoing treatment. I applied for a job in ARAMCO last year and had an interview. I was told then that my case was "on hold" ( this was prior to the diagnosis). I heard from them last week asking for a repeat submission of my CV which I did. Now, they are asking me to have a face to face interview with them next week. What should I do? I am bald so my condition is obvious.( I do wear a head scarf). I am still undergoing radiotheraphy but will finish soon. I was just thinking that if I'm lucky, by the time all papers are processed I will have recovered well enough for me to do the job. I am currently well and beside the baldness you would not know that I have cancer. Shall I just go for the interview? Or am I just wasting everybodys time?

Hi,

I think better wear a headscarf and just look cool, no one will notice.
Strictly speaking they didnt inquire about your health condition, but again what would it imply if you donÂ’t bring it up before the interview??

Be self conscious and update them regarding your condition, by my standards youÂ’re already lucky enough to be recovering..
Go for the interview.. YOu wouldnt be wasting nobodys time if you feel that you are competant for the job that you have applied for.

I hope that you will have a good and healthy recovery!

Cheers!
go to the interview, just be yourself. Your condition is not gonna affect other employees. Good luck and hope you have a full recovery.
Hi Lovely8,

You getting an interview with ARAMCO is a big deal already. This means you are short-listed, and they just need to see you in person to make sure you fit your acclaimed credentials – So Congratulations!

Now about your medical condition; If you inform them about it, even if you are recovering and all is going to be well, they could think otherwise. They could raise questions in their minds like; will she be really up to the job, is she saying sheÂ’s recovering just to get the job, will she keep asking for sick-leave days on and off, etc.. So my suggestion is to NOT inform them about it.

Now the point of you being bald, although it is very unfortunate, you can still use it for your advantage by wearing a Head Scarf. Saudi Arabia is a conservative country, covering your hair is actually considered very modest. So just go to google.com and type “Head Scraf” and click on ‘images’, you’ll get a ton of styles you can use which you find comfortable.

I wish you all the best in this quest..! Feel free to contact me should you need further details..

Trevis
