My husband has been negotiating his salary for a little while now with many hospitals in both Jeddah and Riyadh. We decided on King Faisal in Jeddah in another field (specialist field). I am just mentioning because I've been seeing the package offerings come through and can tell what's normal.

King Faisal specialist hospital pay scales are more generous then most other hospitals in KSA.

No dear Doctor, this is not the way it works.

After talking USMLE, steps 1->4, then applying for residency, then when and (if) they get a residency, there is a salary associated with the residency... and it does not change much, from year to year, and it is usually well on (down) below 100K, and no they do not buy plane tickets and give free tuition to children. This is laughable.聽 The residencies Internal Medicine and Family Practice, is where these already (working doctors) go, to [re-train] as (residents) for the next (three) years. THEY ARE NOT Licensed Physicians, THEY ARE RESIDENTS, they have to stay there in the training hospital, and [retrain]... for the next three years right along with other medical residents. Some go into Asian dominated residency programs, where there isn't a single American resident in training, and it shows.... But the bottom line is the salaries are not high, cost of living is what's high... and there are little if any perks, sometimes there is not even free parking....

That is what GP's at Government hospitals get !

And for a dermatologist 14 K is fair enough

You both will be saving good money
