Doctors and medical standards in Riyadh

Greetings

聽 聽 聽Want to know about the health care standard in Riyadh.

Which are some of the good hospitals in Riyadh.
Is it better in terms of quality to visit these hospitals or doctors who practice privately ?

Are the standards of doctors and facilities comparable to western聽 countries.

Thanks in advance.

Our Doctors come from Mumbai and Punee in India and our hospitals are JCIA accredited.

Hope this helps
We use Dallah Hospital, Hammadi Hospital, Consulting Clinic and Transad Clinic. The first two are full fledged in-patient hospitals with OPD/Emergency services while the latter two are basically clinics with GP's and specialists for OPD services. Doctors are mainly from Asian Sub Continent and North Arab countries. No major issues with the quality of the medics so far. Service at the reception could certainly improve a lot.

I am a Saudi physician and I will give you the following advice:
Unfortunately, in SA we have somehow a lousy system, you could have medical error easily because of the fact that the聽 credentialing is not that strong. so:
do not be fooled by the fancy names such JCIA, these credential does not affect the professional practice. still you could have a very bad physician in a very accredited hospital.

Ask about the physician not the hospital.

with all my respect, I will be more cautious with physicians who does not hold one of these boards:
Canadian, American, UK, Saudi, Australian. "Arab board is low standard in my opinion"

If you don't have access to National Guard Hospital or king Faisal hospital, I suggest to start with Sulaiman Alhabib and remember all the previous points.
Hi all.

In regards to the quality of healthcare in Riyadh, there is enormous variability. Much of the nursing, medical care and the facilities in many private and government hospitals is of a fairly basic standard. I guess it all depends on what you are accustomed to in your home country. Lots of doctors and nurses from less developed countries. Credentialing of health care qualifications is a comparatively recent development, where basically anybody with a valid qualification from anywhere in the world can get registered after paying their money. Vastly different to the rigorous screening of qualifications and experience that occurs in the UK, USA, Australia & Canada.

I agree with mov580 that in Riyadh the NGH & KFSH offer world class care & facilities. Eligibility to receive treatment in these centres is limited. You can receive treatment as a non eligible patient by going through the business centre at the National Guard Hospital using private health insurance. Buyer beware.
