@marktmorgan Good morning Mark or should I say Gunaydin. I can answer most of your questions. The answer can you get a residency card while renting is a definite yes. I live in Kusadasi, and find it to be a disadvantage to have a car here for several reasons and this of course depends on your need for one. If you go out in this city at night and go to the more popular areas you will find the streets very crowded and have a very difficult and frustrating time getting a parking spot. Public transportation is cheap and easy to get and if you want a taxi you can pretty much go anywhere in the city for under 50 TL, get picked up at your home, and dropped off at your location of interest. Since public transportation pretty much stops at 11 pm you will need a taxi ride home. So I don’t recommend it. As for prescription charges they are very cheap and you can find pharmacies that will re[;ace your used ones with no written prescription from a doctor as long as you have the empty box. I have found an internation money transfer site called Remitly.com which gives me fast an inexpensive service at the best exchange rates possible.I recommend them very highly. @dncole4156 One thing I meant to mention is if you occasionally really need a car you can rent one fairly inexpensive, and avoid the high cost to buy one, the maintenance costs, and the insurance costs.

I do know Kusadasi quite well as have cruised in there a couple of times and stayed at La Bleu and Ramada resorts 4 times.

Yes I think I'll probably rent a vehicle as suggested. I will also probably rent an apartment as opposed to buying a villa, most likely the interest on the capital of my UK hoise sale will pay a large chunk of my Turkish rental 😀

On prescriptions, will I have to register with a doctor or simply take the empty boxes into a pharmacy?

@marktmorgan Congratulations, good. Having said that, you should not do anything (just check), your employer should arrange for everything if they want you (just agree with them). Even helping in finding accomodation they should help.
