Does anyone use a virtual mailbox

olsoncheryl

We are moving to Oaxaca next month. We want to keep our US bank account. I have been reading about using a virtual mailbox service as an easy way to have a physical US address without having to rely on a relative at home. Has anyone used one of these services (Traveling Mailbox, iPostal1)?

I just signed up for Traveling Mailbox but I have yet to receive a package here so I don't have a lot to tell. However, their customer service is stellar. They answer questions immediately through a chat and email. Very clear, easy to understand system and not expensive. Good luck.

Has anyone used USA2ME? I signed up and paid, then they provided lengthy forms to be filled out and notarized. Then they said since my wife and I have different last names our fee would be increased, even though all our mail will be coming from the same address to the new address.

Every time I meet a hurdle they present, "But wait! There's more!"

If they didn't already have my credit card information l would change providers.

I have recently started to use Traveling Mailbox with good success. It is $15 a month plus the expense of forwarding small packages to Mexico, which can be around $20, so they have an option to combine shipments, which saves a lot of money. Their customer service is excellent. I get my mail forwarded from the usa to a local DHL here, also a very simple process. Good luck.

How do retirees handle these forwarding services for their Medicare Advantage Plans?

Won't my benefits be revoked if my hometown is in rural Oklahoma and my mail is sent to

another state?

Probably, yes, if you create a change of address, then you would have to deal with Medicare and yes it could affect your benefits. Technically, I still live in KS where my mail is sent. The mail I receive to Traveling Mailbox is not official mail. That is an issue I don't have experience with. Sorry. Hopefully someone on here can advise you about that.

An update on the Traveling Mailbox system. I was just informed that I can no longer consolidate packages from the USA into Mexico, so I must ship them individually. For instance, 3 packages combined could be $30-$40 total, but now instead, each item ships for $25 each. Just a heads up. I am going to cancel the account which was costing me $15 a month for the USA address.
