Returning to NZ

Hi all

I am English living in the USA for five years as a legal registered resident, my wife is American and for me it was very easy to obtain residency here, although it took two years. We lived in Timaru NZ six years ago for a while before we returned here due for family commitments, but have always hankered to return. My wife has a sister who is a resident so she was able to stay and get a work visa, I on the otherhand did some side work whilst attempting to get a work visa. We rented a house and took in two students which payed the rent. To say we were very happy in this paradise is an understatement and although we are rapidly approaching senior years we are going to do whatever possible to return. My skills were relevant some years ago as were my wife's but sadly time has been our worst enenmy and we are looking at back door entry to begin with. I know we have the tenacity to get back there and succeed in staying but it is an uphill battle. Any positive ideas would be truly appreciated.

Unless you have an indefinite returning residents visa your chances are slim. There are retirement visas of course but you have to be wealthy to get them. At the end of the day are you sure that New Zealand is where you want to be, or are you just hankering over your past? Things have changed a lot over the last six years, and not for the better.
