@karemgreen First of all CONGRATULATIONS on your decision. I have found that if you are looking for a Supermercado, Pharmacy, Clothing Store or Motorcycle / Auto place you are in luck. Otherwise, some items are impossible or extremely hard to find in Brazil. I spent countless hours looking for Audio Speakers for my P.C. until I finally realized that Brazilians don't really use PC's much. Even in doctors' office麓s it is a laptop so there is no need for that product.

Having said that the hands down transporter of choice is DHL. Very rarely will you have anything delivered by anyone else.聽 FYI when I purchase from Amazon. Com, it usually costs me three times the listed price because of Import Fee's etc and they are notorious for holding it up at customs even if you have paid in advance, so just prepare for Import Fee's even if you find a carrier.

@karemgreen Some questions to start. What is your nationality? How much do your machines weigh?

You will be charged by weight as it exceeds the "cubed" value of the items. Expect to pay "a lot"........

Having said that, can you replace your items locally in聽 Brasil ? Better look into that first if you haven't already, just to compare costs.

We just shipped 18 x 3 cubic foot boxes by air freight which weighed 740 pounds. 2 boxes are my things, the rest are the wife's........I normally just travel with the clothes on my back and money, the wife OTOH kkkkkkkkk

If I dropped the boxes off myself at the airport CAD $2,800 was the cost, then I've got to hire a customs broker in Brasil, pay storage, as well as freight to my condo, etc. I don't have the time from 10,000 KM away to locate and organize all that. So, $7500 CAD and it got picked up at my place and will be delivered air freight to my door in Rio. All paperwork done online in a few hours. I only lifted a finger to click the mouse.

Hi Karem. Maybe you've already thought this out but there are two things that come to mind when I think about bringing equipment you might use for your professional or your personal needs:

• Power source - does your destination have the same power provision that your equipment requires?
• Parts and maintenance - if you need these will Brazil be an easy place to obtain them?

I'm neither a "tric么" nor a "bordado" expert but I do know that there are areas in Brazil where knitted (Jacutinga, MG?) and embroidered goods (Caic贸, RN?) are produced and I would imagine that going with equipment common (still it is probably imported) in those places might be a safer bet than facing downtime.

I live in an area where there is a lot of production of hammocks (S茫o Bento,PB) and confections (Toritama, PE has 3000 businesses to create clothing). There are machines.

Best of luck to you in your move (return?) to Brazil. Maybe some day we can see the things that you produce!!!

House power supply was something that I was wondering about.聽

Brazil has 220-240V 60Hz supply at the electrical panel.聽 Is this a supply with 1 live and 1 neutral or is it like in the US and Canada, where you can get 2-110V supply when coupled with a neutral?

Also, is 3 phase supply available on the street before connecting to the house?聽

Brazil has areas with 110V and other areas with 220V. 220V is one live, one neutral (and an earth). 3 phase is available in most of these areas, in streets, businesses and houses if you choose to have it installed.

Where do you live now? In the USA? If your in the Massachusetts/Connecticut area there is a company that can ship your items by boat. About $300 for a 18鈥� x聽 18鈥澛� x聽 24鈥� box. 65 pounds limit.
