Yeah. I paid this fine myself too. Guess everybody pays this fine regardless of when they naturalized. It was just a minor amount. Nothing serious.

The fine amount is ridiculously low.  Pay up and move on

    Good evening.... I went to the local TRE office to receive my voter identification. They demanded that I pay tax/fine in order to obtain my ID since I needed to regualize my situation with not voting in the previous election.
I received approval for my citizenship just this past August, and as a foreigner, I'm ineligible from voting in Brazilian elections previously. How could I possibly vote if I wasn't eligible to do so? Why should I pay for something that is illegal for me to do?
I questioned the agent, who replied that everyone pays, even you.
I made the payment they wanted. Please let us know if anyone else had to pay a fine or tax. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It probably means you need to get a Voter's Certificate to become an registered elector. Which by the way Brazilians pay too.     The fee is insignificant. 

I myself seldom ever vote. I'd rather pay the fine. It used to be you had to wait in line to cast your vote, which has now changed. And as ever, voting day fell into a holiday, which meant ruining your getaway plans for the sake to vote into the next "Clown in Office".  Now the process is less painfull, at the least. 

It's a fee, not a fine.  Get in line, and stop moping.
