@lafortel As far as i  know,  if the car is not new from a dealer,  you cannot  bring it into Colombia—that is,  it is prohibited by law.

I am under the same impression that Colombia will not allow a used car to enter the country. 

@lafortel I did a little research (very little)—-check out the Andean Automotive Agreement (199() confirming  that  unless you are importing a car new from  the dealer (with 0 milege to boot) you cannot import a car permanently into Colombia. There may be exceptions for temporary imports.

From my understanding, You CAN import a vehicle older than 25 years into the country.

It's not easy to do so.  I've read you need to get an official letter from the antique car clubs in Colombia.  And other documents from the DIAN.

But even then, what is on paper can dramatically change once you get it on the docks.

It's really not worth shipping it as very very few people in Colombia will know its worth: Financial or Emotional.

@lafortel       I am not sure about older cars, but if you figure out a way, I would love to know.  I have my 2005 Dyna Wide Harley still in the US, but to ship it here on a container ship would be very expensive.  More than it is worth.  I have heard that people can share containers in small sections, but I think anyway you look at it, it is expensive.

Yes.  You can share a container if you want to try to ship a vehicle to Colombia.  Container prices have risen steaply lately due to many factors.  You're looking around $6-8000 for a container, but if you can split it with two cars, they would pay the most because it's by space.  You would probably be paying $1000-1500 to ship it.  We shipped a vehicle back in 2019 and it was only $3500 for a container.

Best port is Galvenston/Houston to Cartegena.  Look for Overlander facebook groups.  People in that group ship often...although more from Panama to Colombia than from the US to Colombia.
