You seem to be on an expat fishing expedition without any real interest in Ecuador.

If you wish to find things commensurate with Muslim culture, you might better look into living in Muslim countries.

LEBANON not a Muslim Country ...
LEBANON is the only country in the middle east that is have Civil Law and don't follow religions law like other Middle east countries.( only in marriage each religion have her own rules )
Our laws mix聽 from France , Uk聽 , if i am right...but shire not from religions book.
He have 18 religions聽 .聽 the President is Christian Catholics (Maronite ).., etc...
In Lebanon , u can drink , dress Whatever , whenever you want , in Lebanon have the best medical and educational system in the middle east ,聽 Lebanon nick name is聽 the Oriental Swiss..聽 聽 聽we have the biggest and best聽 night life in the region .
Lebanon have a Civilization聽 of 3000 Years.

Hope those info's relight some missing informations of Lebanon and Lebanese people.

I recall seeing a building (a storefront) in Quito that had signage indicating it was a mosque. I doubt 350 people could keep a halal store in business, but you might check with the mosque, or an embassy from a Muslim country, to see where they recommend you shop.

I must agree completely with gardner1. You're going to have an almost ZERO chance of finding halal meats and products or meeting other Muslims in Ecuador. Gosh here in Brazil, South America's largest country and the one with the greatest population of citizens from Islamic nations finding halal products and finding mosques and meeting up with other Muslims is extremely difficult. You can imagine just how much more difficult that it's going to be in Ecuador. I don't know if it's going to be of any help to you because I don't know if Ecuador imports any meat products from Brazil however the following link shows the Brazilian national brands that are halal certified, available in most supermarkets here, so there is a small chance that you might even be able to find them in Ecuador too:



Click on Frigor铆ficos de Aves for poultry brands; and on Frigor铆ficos de Bovinos for beef brands that are halal certified. If Ecuador imports any of these brands from Brazil then they are what you are looking for.

聽 聽 While there are a small number of Muslims in Cuenca (way more in Quito, the Capital of Ecuador), there are not any Halal markets here.聽 You can always of course buy fish, which is Halal.聽 The ocean is 4 hours away and there are fish to be found in the open air markets.

聽 聽 聽On the internet there is only one mosque mentioned but when I ask our Pakistani brothers (who run very nice shawarma restaraunts here!) they tell me that there are 2 mosques here, both are Sunnah.
聽 聽 聽I have not yet found a Shia mosque here.

聽 聽 聽But there are Muslims from many countries, not just Pakistan. I have met a man from Iran and also there are a huge number of Turkish people here.聽 The Spaniards had Turkish slaves that then were freed (due to low reserves of food) opted to stay here in Ecuador due to the war on in Turkey (and also not wanting to starve to death on the boats back) at the time (fall of the Ottoman Empire at that time?)聽 I don't know but it was about 500 years ago so there are a lot of Turks here.

聽 聽 聽So while you will possibly feel at home here, (more so than in the USA right now! ), the number of those who attend Jummah pray on Fridays might be pretty low.

聽 聽 聽As a Muslim sister, alhamdullilah, I do not need to attend pray outside my home and so I have not yet gone.

He is not looking for a Muslim country.聽 He is looking to see what he can eat here for when he visits.聽 This is a problem.聽 Like a Vegetarian wanting to visit Argentina, land of the massive meat dish with teeny bits of garlic as the "vegetable" on the plate.聽 LOL
Finding Halal in mostly Catholic countries is a bit tricky.聽 There are a few in Guatemala City in Guatemala but usually those who keep Halal need to eat Kosher (if available) or stick to fish, eggs and vegetables.聽 聽I have lived in 6 Latino countries over the course of many years and keeping Halal is seemingly impossible!聽 But for me, it was a small sacrifice to live in such an amazing place.
