I'm originally from south suburbs of Chicago. My wife is from Indy. We are hoping to move permanently to Belize from central Indiana if our research continues to convince us Belize is where we want to spend the rest of our lives. So far everything looks great. I'm hoping the move will allow us to stop feeling like all we do is work and get further in debt. I want to distress, relax, and work at my computer as necessary with tropical views from a veranda. Being self employed we do not pay into social security and because we haven't paid for more than 10 years each, they say we aren't entitled to anything except disability for current health conditions but can't collect unless we drastically reduce our income! We can't live on what we make now in the states and they want us to cut that to get what we paid for! Oh well, since I was a teenager I never expected the government would have my money when the time came to collect so I always planned to work until I die. My wife likes crafting for a hobby and I fix up our house and land as necessary and when I can afford to. I will probably have to leave most if not all my powertools behind when we move so I will either have to repurchase in Belize or rent tools or give up doing my own remodeling and home repairs. Other than all that, I don't have a lot of time or energy for socializing but maybe that will be better when we move.

What's the blue book value of that 2009? That's what they base the value on. I'd triple check that duty rate. There is a government list of the duty charges for any vehicles brought into the country and I think 79% for yours is wrong. Read More
