I’m Julie, French expat living abroad for the past 15 years.

I first discovered life abroad during a gap year: it was such a great experience that I knew I wanted to do it again whenever I got the chance. Since then, I’ve gone through all the ups and downs of life abroad: preparing for the move, handling paperwork, settling in, adjusting to a new culture, dealing with the distance from home… all the challenges that come with living abroad... and all the things that make it so meaningful, too!

For over 10 years now, I have been working with expats. At ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº, I have had the chance to connect with people from all over the world, whether they are just starting to plan their move or have been living abroad for years. It has helped me to understand the many sides of expat life: finding a job, accommodation, learning the language, navigating cultural differences, building a social circle, managing school for the kids, and dealing with the emotional ups and downs that come with it all. I have also worked with partners who offer services to help make things smoother for expats at every stage. I’ve also had the chance to collaborate with partners who offer services designed to make life abroad smoother and more manageable for expats: moving companies, relocation experts, international health providers, language schools, banks, pension or life coaching.

Collaborating with ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº, I had the pleasure to guide on forums expats and soon-to-be expats on how to navigate on the website, help them to find the info they need or to connect with other members. I had the opportunity to share expat stories and testimonies: their choice of destination, they day-to-day life, their integration process, their challenges and how they overcome them, their experience and vision of expat life.

I also contributed to organise ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº gatherings in Mauritius: casual afterworks or speed business meetings, these events are a great opportunity for expats and locals to develop their network, share experiences in a friendly atmosphere; a great way as well to discover new places to go out in Mauritius.

I also set communication campaigns to keep the community active or to make it stand out.

What I love most is the human side of it all, both on the platform and in expat life itself. I am passionate about helping to share those little everyday moments and personal stories from expats around the world. Each journey is unique, but we all go through similar things. That’s what makes ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº so special: a place where expats from around the world can connect, help each other, and feel a little less alone in this big adventure.
