My father, a painter, passed on to me his dreams of travel and his love of colors. My readings nourished my passion for Greek Antiquity. Quite naturally, when I retired, I left Switzerland with its harsh winters and limited horizons to spend the winter in the West Indies and the summer in Greece. Winter in the luxuriance of tropical flora with the gentle trade winds, summer in the Greek language and culture under the vigorous meltemi.
