I think it depends very much on the standard of living one hopes to enjoy in Bulgaria. Living as many Bulgarians do, particularly in the rural areas saves a lot, as much food is grown, chickens kept for eggs and maybe even the cooking pot I ... Read More

My quote was 2380 lev for a complete rewire of a fairly large house, not to include sockets, light switches etc. About 75 % of the work has been done and to a good standard, however due to rising costs I have now been asked for a further 3000 lev ... Read More
Has anybody had any luck with this website by joao76915
Hello, Has anybody had any luck from this website? OKbulgaria, I am trying to look for homes but I seem to be facing a dead end when sending emails enquiring about properties that I like.
I dealt with them a few years ago. The owner actually lives here in the Uk although appears to be Bulgarian. I viewed a few houses and all seemed legitimate. It may have changed hands by now of course but they were always prompt in their response ... Read More

Is there a house for sale in your village?
I certainly did not expect a palace or even a habitable house for the tiny amount I paid. I am also aware, having already been through a renovation project in England that everything takes twice as long and costs twice as much as expected and ... Read More

Me again ;) as always I want to thank everyone upfront - Your suggestions are of very high value. How much do you spend monthly to support yourself in Bulgaria if you own your property and are rent-free ?
Utility bills are cheaper as Gwynj describes (although mine are a fair bit higher than his) Some things are not that much cheaper, eg cost of running a car and many groceries if you shop in places like Lidl which seems to have a large presence in ... Read More

You cannot enter from the UK directly unless you fulfil an exemption. Sadly owning a property does not qualify, I am in the same position. The advice from the Embassy was to stay in another country for ten days. Clearly, others are gaining entry ... Read More
