properties for sale on 大咖福利影院 by Inge g

I don't understand why real estates post properties that only locals can buy. this is misleading. expats can only buy PDS properties....

Tookays

Hello. As far as I am aware, expats can buy apartments in G+2 blocks which may not be PDS or any of the other recommended schemes. They would still need to get permission etc. I think. Read More

Tookays

Chicken and egg!Banks should let you open an account with the approval in principle, according to the EDB. Most banks will not . They will want to see the UID and proof of address. Or at least that was the system a while ago.Good luck. Read More

Good afternoon. A friend (57) wishes to apply for a 10-year retirement residency visa, but we're both struggling to establish what income will be treated by EDB as "guaranteed income" for the visa. He's not yet entitled to his company or state ...

@david6363 If I was living in Mauritius and was tax resident there, I would transfer most of my money to Mauritius. Savings interest rates are definitely higher than in the UK. Read More

@david6363 It depends on how you want to structure your finances. If you transfer some of your money into Mauritius every month/year as required for the permit, then you do not have to pay taxes in Mauritius if you have paid taxes in the UK. You ... Read More

Cost of living in Mauritius in 2026 by Cheryl

Hello everyone, Every year, we invite you to share your experiences with the cost of living in Mauritius, especially in the region or city you live in. Your insights will greatly help members planning their move to Mauritius or already living ...

Tookays

@Rafael034 Main cost is rent, but that depends on what you need. Food - buy local veggies and fish from local markets and cook it yourself. That will keep costs down. 1k should just about be enough for single person. Read More

Mauritius Retirement Visa Deposit: Taxable or Not? by sharmaritachetty

If one has a retirement visa and one deposits the required annual capital amount into a Mauritian bank account, that amount is not taxable in Mauritius because its capital, even though it is used for upkeep in the same way as income. ?

Tookays

@sharmaritachetty You could transfer the money without becoming a tax resident in Mauritius. You are presumably a tax-resident somewhere and have paid income tax on the amount anyway. $24000 per annum is the minimum amount you have to transfer for ... Read More

Tookays

@sharmaritachetty I do not think it is treated as 'income' , hence no 'income tax'. In addition, how is the money sent into Mauritius as part of retirement expenses treated? $24000 per year or more.Is this also not taxed in Mauritius? I presume this ... Read More
