My expat journey

Seattle, New Zealand
Still in school, this is where I live now. I'm going to take up kayaking, I bought my house. Now that I have my degree no one is hiring. hmmmmm Looking at New Zealand.
Student plus I have a small cleaning business
I'm again in Port Angeles. It's pretty but there's not a lot to do other than hiking, camping, hunting, biking, sailing. If you like doing only those things you'll do fine here. Unfortunately, I like museums, theater a choice of foods
The Olympic Peninsula is full of retirees so you better not mind driving 45 MPH everywhere and waiting in line behind farting old ladies.

New Zealand

USA

Hawaii, USA
Beach, beach, beach. Picked up lots of sea glass, went to the Polynesian Cultural Center quiet a few times. We were stationed in Wahiawa.
I was donations supervisor at a local thrift shop.
Weather was beautiful. A Rainbow everyday.
Ohau is the slum of Hawaii. Crime is horrible, the stench is horrible, drugs are rampant and other than the beach, there really isn't much to do so you better like going to the beach.

Seattle, USA
I actually lived in Port Angeles, WA. This is where I bought my first sailboat and discovered sailing. Camping, hiking.
Student I got my Masters degree in psychology here.
It's very beautiful and peaceful. Close to Victoria Canada
It's too far from Seattle. There is no nightlife, no musuems, no sports, the cost of living is high and there are no jobs.

New Mexico, USA
I lived in Angel Fire which is a ski resort so lots of skiing, snowmobiling, hiking
Social Worker for the State of New Mexico
It's very beautiful, most things to do except skiing are free.
The local indians put a curse on this place when the white men took it. IT SHOWS!

Texas, USA
Hovering over the air conditioner
Social Worker for the State of Texas
It's BIG
There are only two months per year that Texas is tolerable. April and October. All other times it is miserably hot or miserably cold and wet.

Auckland, New Zealand
Sightseeing, visiting friends
I was on vacation
The people were wonderfully friendly, the place is clean, lots of things to do both inside and outside.
It's so expensive to get there. The cost of living is high.

Idaho, USA
I lived in Boise, Idaho.
I worked for the Dept of the Interior, Boise Interagency Fire Center and the State of Idaho in Child Support Enforcement.
Boise is beautiful, low crime, lots of outdoor activities, reasonable cost of living, great people, just enough culture. It's a small big city.
It's not close enought to the coast.

Kansas, USA
I lived in Ft. Riley, KS.
I worked for the Dept of Defense as a clerk
Not much
It's out in the middle of nothing

Illinois, USA
I lived in Granite City, Illinois.
I worked at SLASC. St Louis Area Support Center for the Dept. of Defense as Admin Support for the APACHE Acquisition Team.
Not Much, it's close to St. Louis
Granite City is the armpit of the world. It's a steel mill town with all the mills closd. It's dirty, poor and very racial.

Colorado, USA
I lived in Westminster which is a suburb of Denver
I worked at Sandstedts, Beebee and Runyan a local furniture company.
Denver is gorgeous. Close to the mountains, skiing and snowmobiling.
I was there on the only Christmas day when it was 80 degrees on Christmas.

Kansas, USA
I lived in Grainfield Kansas. I first married here.
I worked in a rest home in Quinter, Kansas at a rest home.
Well it's peaceful
It's out in the middle of nothing.

Missouri, USA
I first left home in St. Louis.
I worked at Lambert Field (St. Louis Intl Airport) in an ice cream parlor on one of the concourses. I also worked at RCPAC (now ARPERCEN) for the Dept of the Army as a peronnel clerk.
ST. Louis Blues Hockey. Irish Bars, The Arch, Six Flags over Mid America, The parks, St. Louis is a pretty town. If they'd just move it to the coast it would be perfect.
Lots of crime, racial tension.
