About

Hi, my name is Daniel. I grew up in a small town in the north of Italy. I now live in Vancouver, Canada. I left Italy when I was 27, I quit my secure job despite everybody saying it wasnt the right decision, and I got on a plane to New Zealand. I lived in New Zealand for four and a half years. I loved it. I was living my dream lifeexcellent mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding, good friends, good beer, and excellent steaks. I left because I wanted to switch my career, and I couldnt do that with my work permit. I also tried to push myself. I realized my life had become too comfortable. When you are in a Fight-or-flight situation, like start your life from scratch and not able to communicate (me when I got to NZ), you give your 100%. I wanted to replicate that. I moved to Canada on a working holiday visa again. Things went sideways at the airport in Vancouver. They only gave me six months. Thats not a lot of time to find a job and decide if you want to stay or not. I managed to find a job two months before it ran out. My amazing bosses help me with the sponsorship. The bureaucracy was crazy, the most stressful months of my life. I almost gave up. But three months later, I got my visa for two years. I've been living in Canada since 2018.
Interests: technology, mountain biking, surfing, podcast, snowboarding

Occupation

I am Employed.

I went there with a few English words in my pocket, but people gave me a chance to work anyway. I studied and got some certificates just to prove to others that despite my poor English, I wasn't stupid. That gives me the courage to apply to better jobs and find a job in my field of expertise, telecommunications.
I did any labor job I could to pay the bills. I then managed to get a job as a telecommunication technician.
People are great, they are super friendly. I felt very safe, we never locked the front door, we didn't have to.
The economy is good, but there are not many opportunities in the tech industry.
