Entrepreneurs in Canada : how does the crisis impact your work

Hello everyone,

As the world comes to a halt, we wanted to hear from the entrepreneurs in Canada.
While new challenges arise from the current context, we think this is a good time to share your story, especially if you are a business owner in Canada.
That's why we invite you to answer the following questions:

What is your industry and the size of your company located in Canada?

How does the crisis impact you, financially, economically and personally? On the other hand, have you seen new business opportunities emerge?

Have you managed to set up a teleworking approach? If so, how was the transition?

Hi 尝辞茂肠, great topic.

I work as an audiovisual technician, so my company had to shut down as soon as the pandemic started. I haven鈥檛 done since March 18th.

Because I鈥檓 on a work permit, and because of the gravity of the situation, I wasn鈥檛 sure if I could get the benefits from the government. I thought, why would they give money to someone on a work permit? You鈥檙e here to work, and if you can鈥檛 work, you can leave. But the reality ended up being quite different.
Anyway, with that fear, I decided that I had to take care of myself, so I started learning new skills with the goal of creating an online business.

I came across an online program that teaches you affiliate marketing. With the skills I learned and with my new mindset, I launched a podcast! So far, I interviewed four people, and it was so much fun. Especially interviewing people that reached out to me on socials. Because I don鈥檛 know them, makes the interview even more interesting.

I absolutely love it, and I hope that one day I will be able to do this full time.

So for me, not be able to work was a blessing. If it weren鈥檛 for that, I wouldn鈥檛 be where I am right now, in a very happy place!

聽聽 I'm a freelance software engineer. would you be able share about the situation you are facing now in Canada? I think to set up an online web development business. How do you feel about that? Also tried PNP program to immigrate but still no luck.
