patrickstephens

Hi, I contacted a number of companies found via google (50% reply rate and some awful websites...). They appear to classify long term care lease as 3+ months. A month or so seems to fall more into regular car rental rates. That's just based on ... Read More

Thanks for all the feedback, especially Gravitas the link you gave, which pretty much confirms my first impressions. Even the cheaper private schools are expensive when coming from a background of state schools in Europe (not to say everything is ... Read More

Budapest inquiry by Milan.K

Hi everyone! I have been offered a job in Budapest, and I don't have a clue what is the cost of living there, so, I'm asking you guys here, if anyone is in Budapest, would salary of some 900 euros be enough for decent living in Budapest?

patrickstephens

As per a previous post, that is an entry level IT programmer salary. And relative to many other professions, IT jobs pay well here. If that amount is net you can certainly live on it, you won't be rich but it'll be alright. If you are not entry ... Read More

I can't say Hungarians are all that forgiving when a foreigner tries to speak the language. Usually if you don't pronounce something correctly they have no idea what you are trying to say (as opposed to say English-speaking natives who are used to ... Read More

patrickstephens

200,000 per month before tax is NOT a good salary. Of course it depends on your job/skills/expertise etc, but you won't get an awful lot more than 120,000 after tax (that's a rough guess), and that will almost entirely get eaten up by flat costs ... Read More
