Marriage fraud
@tancummings please refrain from talking about Islam and any branches regarding it as obviously you鈥檙e ignorant. Orfi is admitted in Islam and recognizable when it鈥檚 done in the proper method/ way; it鈥檚 a procedure. And, at anytime it can be a registered marriage

@Rosa Jones first off, I understand that majority rules, but if literally you see all Egyptians like that, I believe this is because you鈥檙e a ****. Presides, with your Latin or I dunno Mexican background, I鈥檓 sure your country is worse and this is why you came here in the first place. ****

@hussein86 Hi, and thank you for your helpful post. Please, have you ever heard of an Egyptian man (from Cairo) becoming engaged to a foreign girl he thinks is rich, asking her for thousands of pounds to finish paying off his taxi (bc the taxi owner has a grandmother in the hospital), and then disappearing for three days, after which he has his family tell the foreign girl that he went to prison and needs thousands of pounds for not one but at least three attorneys (bc one of them disappeared without a way to contact him for a refund)? Could he be sincere, struggling financially, and truly in prison for arguing with police officers who stopped him for not having a commercial (mahalliya) license to operate a taxi?
The family also told the girl that he needs 800 pounds of cigarettes bc he can't have money on him at the prison (after he himself asked for a transfer of money to him "in prison," and the family later asked her gor 1000 money to transfer to him in prison, saying they eoulf explain when they saw her in person that day (but forgot).
Is this a common scheme? Come to think of it, looking at these facts all laid out, I think I just answered my own question, but then I don't want to be unfair and just assume. I know she really loves the family (who cooked for her a lot) and wishes she could help more. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Yes it鈥檚 very common, he鈥檚 playing her like a fiddle i鈥檓 afraid
@Aya26 Run from these people. As fast as you can.
@barbaramossakowska1 this is not true! Orfi is accepted by a lot of hotels, I have stayed in a few with my partner. It is true of course that it is not registered and is just a contract between the 2 parties involved. Mine was sent to be authenticated in the court and that is what we showed at check in.
I mean the whole concept of Orfi is terrible and how Egyptian men use it but also for something that has no legal standing, I don't understand why it's so hard to dissolve it?
@Peony_xo Thanks! That's what the lawyer I called said. He said it also happened to a girl from Hong Kong. People who don't respect others should not be surprised when others disregard them. They could have just told me that they need money.
Hello everyone! I met an Egyptian guy in Luxor, in January and since then, h's been in touch with me. He's never asked for money and we are planning to see each other again. But he sometimes vanishes for 1 or 2 days what I think is very weird. Is it possible to meet him without having any hotel booked? Or to be with him together somewhere? He says it is but after reading all those posts... Is there any chances of getting in trouble? Be a scam?

sorry to say but if you鈥檙e having doubts already it鈥檚 not the best start. If he鈥檚 from luxor the chance of him being after sex, money and or residence is 95%. I鈥檓 in Egypt now we see it all the time
yes you can stay with him but you鈥檒l need to have an orfi 鈥渕arriage鈥 which I don鈥檛 really recommend for various reasons. It鈥檚 also not respected by Egyptians and you鈥檒l be treated less than because you agreed to it.
we don鈥檛 know the guy well enough but keep us updated, also you didn鈥檛 mention whether he鈥檚 religious or not
@Luciig 1 to 2 days .... he is with his Wife ... he is playing you ... If you just want a good time and company with a married man then this is it ... anything more .... Run ... 馃弮鈥嶁檧锔
@Peony_xo
He says he is muslim. He also took me to his house. I met his "mother and sister". He also mentioned the Ramadah.
@Luciig Hi , are you also Muslim or no? Please keep us updated on what's going on with you.

seems early days to meet his family to be honest
@Nnice Rythm
Thanks for the information.
@Peony_xo
I had that impression, but after all things I've read, I'm in a doubt.
@Luciig Hi again, ok, are you planning to get serious with him?聽

Please, don't do anything with him, don't go to hotel with him either. Make him respect you like Egyptian girl. If he gets mad about this, then you know he wasn't serious about you. Don't even kiss him.
I had a very nice Egyptian man rent a room from me.聽 Very helpful and nice.聽 Got back w/ his U.S. wife and asked if his friend could take his room?聽 I said yes and regretted it immediately.聽 He is arrogant and vulgar.聽 He is moving out on the first.聽 The old roommate tried to make excuses for him and said it was probably a translation issue but it wasn't.聽 It was about inappropriate things ****I realize the first roommate is a citizenship seeker too! The reason he went back to his wife is because she didn't show up for his immigration hearing.聽 Yeah... these guys are just scroungy users.聽 If you get a gut feeling something isn't right, trust it.聽 We were given instinct to protect ourselves.聽 I do not think Egyptian men are bad people but I certainly don't have a good impression of them now.
@Yollyrat

@anonymous7
Meeting his family is crucial ! It shows he respects you. It shows you who his family are , the home that he comes from etc etc plus in his religion I feel he wouldn't bring you home to his family if it wasn't an honest relationship! Just be careful
@Misterbig_Ireland
Your story sounds like a lovely one! So happy for you both overcoming all the obstacles
@Leila999
Nope. They do it all the time! Ask me how I know, lol. Well, I'm sure you can guess.
