In Zamalik, The nice restaurants are (Sequia, Crave, Thai resurant, Spectra, Le Pacha)
Mohandseen & Aguza, I do prefer Steak Out, and if you like see food, go to Gandofly. Also, Sea Gull is really good
Downtown, I don't recommend any restaurant there, it's my own thought.

To be short, you can find many good places around, but to be specific, downtown restaurants :

Arabesque: Qasr an Nile Street
Barbeque Terrace OR Villa D'Este : Corniche el-Nil Street inside Conrad International Hotel

Rich Resturant near Tahrir Squier聽 ..3 min only .... you will get very good聽 food .. drinks . and they have nice bar there ...

Try Gracias Italian restaurant in the mall of Ramses Hilton , first floor. and there is another one for Lebanese food at the same floor. try and u will never regret

Hey Anna,
Depends which cuisine do you prefer?
I would say that the best restaurants are in hotels here, apart from few exceptions.
Thus, as mentioned Sequoia is very nice (good quality local cuisine, upscale, very nice atmosphere, serve alcohol)
Taboula and Abu el Sid could be also nice affordable options - both middle eastern cuisine (note that in Taboula in Zamalek they don't serve alcohol, but in Garden city branch - yes)
From Asian restaurants I would recommend L'Asiatique on Le Pacha boat in Zamalek (also upscale, really good quality asian cuisine, serve alcohol)
Another nice Far Eastern (Thai) restaurant is Birdcage in Intercontinental hotel, also very recommendable.
From Italian / International聽 we like La Bodega in Zamalek, very enjoyable atmosphere, though little pricy.
Good quality steaks at affordable prices are served in Charwoods in Mohandessin, though the atmosphere probably is not much for a birthday.
