Everyday life for a typical Egyptian today
I was wondering how life has changed for the typical working class Egyptian family in the last few years?
What sort of things would you like to see in your country to make life better for everyone and can you see it happening one day soon?

Unfortunately most (and my apologies to the exceptions on this forum) most of the Egyptians on this forum are young males soliciting the female expats .
Therefore we are not the people who can give you an answer as mostly we are not Egyptians!!
It's great that you are asking this question - but you need Egyptians to answer it not expats.
also why would expats have 'hopes and dreams for Egypt - it's not our country, most will leave having spent a specified amount of time here (and more quickly than that should the situation here escalate).
It isn't our right to have comment - that is for the Egyptian people. Also our situations are vastly different - we don't struggle on minimum wages, on the whole we don't live in the same places - and the majority of us are very privileged when compared to the average Egyptian
Also, Some of expatriate women are looking forward to socializing with Egyptian men and some of them have been asking for friendships and hanging out....
just the plain fact that you are not Egyptian makes your perspective different.
My husband is Egyptian and over the 16 years we have been married I know Egyptians pretty well from all levels - thats how Egyptian families are
The average Egyptian isnt necessarily poor - but neither are they rich. And each group will have their own opinions.
I think that it is a sad fact that a very large sector of the population are really too poor and ground down to care - their main concern on a daily basis is finding enough money and food to survive.
Mohammed - Egyptians do have aspirations for their country - but I think there are many grass roots problems the country has to work on first - education being one of them.
But imho I dont have the right - even being married to an Egyptian - to comment. Whether I live my life here or not I do have other options and my upbringing was different and that will always colour my opinion. It is impossible for it not to
if you want to know what the average egyptian thinks - why not ask them - you are down with the people.
Friends and family will answer - but be warned it can be pretty divisive as my husbands family know too well - when you have strong pro-MB and ant-MB views.
During the last few years it has become so hard for people to make a living Where I live most people rely on the tourists whether in the hotels or visiting their shops It has made me so sad to see these people they have have a look of despair in their eyes and worry constantly Many have extended families who rely on money being sent home and don't have this money to send Businesses.have been forced to close聽
For me I wish for these people and this country that has so much to offer stability and the hope and chance for this country to turn itself around and once again be admired in the eyes of the world
I tell everyone that I know that they should come to.Egypt to visit because you can't help but fall in love with the country and her people!
Insha Allah what we all wish for for Egypt will soon come and then all egyptians will have the life they deserve and Egypt will be great again Insha Allah!.
As for the young Egyptians who flirt with the ladies on here they are no different to young men everywhere and, as you say, they are doing no.harm.
but no harm.
tell that to the ladies who are a little naive and accept offers of help from these harmless Egyptians. When they are then bombarded with disgusting explicit phone calls, texts and mails - all because they dared to say in the end no thanks to all the offers.
And why should I be flattered that some idiot joins this forum and tends pms out to everyone - he must think that generic pink square that indicates I am female is so beautiful!
Sorry - what a load of horse manure.
Egypt is a beautiful country - and will be again. But it is going to take alot of hard work from everyone to make it that聽 way again.
But since I first came to Egypt some 16 years ago (and obviously being a regular visitor and now I live here) - the people have changed and not for the better.
Things like harrassment/ screwing people (even other Egyptians seem to be the norm now not the exception.
The Egypt I first visited wasn't like that.
but back to the subject - Egypt will hopefully get to where it wants to go but it is going to be a winding road - and along the way you may not like some of what has to happen - but it needs to be accepted and move forward step by step.
but I still think that this the wrong forum to ask the question.聽 The average family are your friends, maybe family if you have married an Egyptian.
but still there is a great divide about who should be conducting these changes - you need to agree to disagree , stop protesting and work towards the common goal
Egyptians also need to realise that freedom and democracy doesn't mean that everyone can flout the rules / laws and do what they want when they want - all you achieve is chaos which to a certain extent is where you are now
Knuckle down, work hard and give whoever you vote in聽 chance - and it needs to be longer than a year - because you may not like some of the tough things that have to be done at first.
I know there are SOME Egyptian males who use this forum for their own ends but that does not apply to all of them lots have very valuable advice. I聽 also get the impression some times that some of the expats dont like living in Egypt and have nothing good to say about the Egyptian people which is such a shame.
just because it isnt what you want to hear doesnt make it any less valid聽 - peter in New York!!
