The U.S. Department of State has issued releases regarding scams from Nigeria. One of them is nicknamed "419 Fraud."

Google and type in u.s. department of state, nigeria and scam. You'll find something like these.

Stay away and stay safe!

a girl i met online supposidly is in import/export. she went to nigeria to receive a shipment of cocoa beans and they gov. raised the tariff. she has got a loan from her bank but she has to open an account in Lagos to deposit the money. she has no money and has over stayed in her hotel. She wants 1,475.00 wire by western union, 500.00 to open the bank account with and the balance to pay her hotel fee. I,m sure this is a scam but was trying to see if I could get someone to go to her and just check her id against a picture I can send and her passport to verify who she is. Says she is staying at a hotel at Km 106 Itori express road, room 206. Goes by the name of Milagros Pastran. Any help would be appreciated and comminsated if reguired.

Sounds every bit like a scam to me, why bother since you only met 'her' online. I am sure she promised you a percentage of the proceeds from the cocoa business, its always the same storyline. Its not worth Ironworker169, I suggest you just move on.

no, has not promised me anything in return, just wants to get the hell out of Nigeria. she says greed on her part of a big profit was what actually took her to Lagos. i would like to id her in person just for the hell of it. Anyone that can help please get in touch with me. If this is a scam I would like for the scammers to know that they can be beat other than just not dealing with them.
