Cambodian Visa's - Essential Information

@oshudofsky

After the first retirement visa extension you renew every year, for as long as you want.

Cheers.

Joe

@oshudofsky

You apply for your first retirement extension within 30 days of arrival. After that once a year.

Cheers.

@zeubie it cost $ 300 to extend a retirement visa? I want to retire to Cambodia starting approx. beginning of 2025. I am also planning to just buy a one-way ticket. I will be curious what will happen then at the airport.

@oshudofsky visa renewable once a year,聽 cost $290

@oshudofsky you can only extend it for one month, 3 months, 6 months or 12

@rarky great

@rarky

hi

i heard about the guy in this group who extremely knowledgeable on imigration.

are you that guy? i know someone with overstay issue.

Hi,

A year ago I got all this information on the visa in here, thank you for that.

I am wondering if it's still same?

We have now booked flights ( coming now in 3 weeks!) and first week in a hotel. Also got agents for viewing of apartments. 馃憣

Am going to "Call Kim" since we will be staying in PP. We are retired in our country ( or to be exact, it's a sort of social security, and we have gotten the confirmation from our government that we have this, and the amount we get each month. Stamped and everything . 馃槏

Do you guys still believe we can get the retirement extention, even tho under 55?

Really hope so, since EB visa will require Work Permit and more to pay. But we'll have to if we have to.

Anyone of you under 55 did this recently? Do we need more documentation??

Thanx 馃檹鉂わ笍

Hi. the retirement visa is easy to get only if you could provide a proof of stable income for living in Cambodia. Welcome.

@rarky

Hello, is it any update for 2025

@Davidkhmer

聽 I live in Cambodia for 13 years and I get a retirement visa for 6 years, and I've never had to show any proof of income !

No documents ; only to be registered on the FPCS.

I have nothing to show anyway, only a bank account if necessary, but they didn't ask me, and I won't receive a pension for another 6 years.

I think now, they may only require proof for certain nationalities, I don't know.

Sincerely, Ch

From my understanding/readings...

2026 -- To qualify for the Cambodia ER Visa, applicants must meet specific eligibility conditions:

You must be 55 years or older to apply for a Cambodia retirement visa.

Applicants must be retired and not engaged in any employment or business activities in Cambodia. Working under an ER visa is strictly prohibited and can lead to penalties.

Applicants must provide documentary proof of retirement status, such as:

  1. 聽 聽Pension or retirement card
  2. 聽 聽Official retirement letter from employer or government
  3. 聽 聽Passport showing retirement-related visa stamps from other countries

Though Cambodia does not enforce a fixed income requirement, retirees must demonstrate adequate financial means to support themselves鈥攕uch as pension deposits or bank statements.

As of 2026, the applicant for a Cambodia retirement visa must provide the following documents:

  1. Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
  2. Recent passport-size photographs
  3. Proof of retirement (pension statement, retirement letter, etc.)
  4. Financial proof (bank statement or pension certificate)
  5. Proof of residence in Cambodia (rental agreement or lease)
  6. Health certificate (if requested)

Validity: 1 year (renewable annually)

Entry Type: Multiple entries allowed

Extension: Can be renewed every year without the need to leave Cambodia

Processing Time: Usually takes 5鈥10 business days

Happy to be corrected should any of this info be incorrect.

Those are not recent and new conditions, they exist at least the time i've got my first ER visa 6 years ago, and the only thing that is not written here above and below is that you have to be registered to the FPCS. A Recent passport-style聽 picture is also required, and the payment of course, about 300 US$

''''''"""""" ER visa extension. The new retirement visa extension is meant for those of retirement age who can show documentation of retirement in their home country (such as a pension or Social Security) and prove that they have the funds to support themselves. ER visa extensions are usually only granted to those who are 55 and up, but some have reported being able to get one at a younger age.

Those 55 and up are not usually asked to show evidence of retirement, but those under 55 will be asked. Often, proof of savings is enough.

The criteria for those under 55 have not been defined and varies depending on which agent you use to apply. The ER visa extension cannot be used if the visa holder is employed, but holders of this visa extension do not need to get a work permit. The ER retirement visa extension can be issued for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months. """"""""""

I rewrite once more :聽 they never asked me any proof of retirement or of savings.

I have to go to Phnom Penh very soon for a new ER visa extension, and if something has changed, i will note it here. My agent is a simple travel agency on Monivong boulevard

Greetings, CH

@christian123
