Welcome to Siem reap. Been here almost 5 years. Living with Khmer partner. Love the city. Take some time to go walk around wat Damnak and wat Bo districts. Love both of them. Also taphul street very nice. We live outside of town a few km.

really enjoy the coffee shops and the occasional beer at one of the viva restaurants or beatnik bar.

walking is nice in the city. Must be more aware since sidewalks are meant for a variety of vehicles.

the city has been very good to me. Met my wonderful Khmer partner here. Have a nice life on my fixed income. Right now it鈥檚 rainy season here or as they are calling it lately green season. It will either rain often or rarely. Just watch the Khmer people. When you see them suiting up with rain gear likely it will start.

I'll visit end of year or 2027 in dry Session, but actually I don't mind rain season,had it often in Asia.

Thanks for the tips where to look for in Siem Reap, I might contact you when I'm there. I intend to have a look on different residential areas to get an idea where I'd like to live. I'd prefer a mixture of 70/30 or so Khmer/Expat people and with some facilities around (local market, food stalls, coffeeshops, pharmacy,...)

Very lovely to hear that you found a Khmer partner , having a beautiful life together馃槝 Btw.: how did you start to lern Khmer? I want to get at least some words and sentences til my stay,even it looks very difficult...

Yes Siem Reap is good after November. People is friendly and the life pace is not so stressful like Phnom Penh. Many residential choices are available for your stay with the international standard hospital too. keep in touch

Hi! Well I think so many places you could look for places to stay. You could just use a realty agent that will take you around but it's just as easy to go look around the city and find signs that say for rent. I don't use Facebook but many people use it to find apartments here. There are small and larger local markets all around the city. We live not far from Phsar Leu Thom Tmey which could be the largest local market in the city. If you go in most directions from here, you can see places for rent. North is an area I really like I call Wat Polanka. South and you are in Wat Bo area just about.聽 I walk through this market just about every day. Today I stopped and got a waffle there as I was heading to a coffee shop I wanted to visit.

My Khmer is pretty limited really. My partner speaks very good English but she teaches me different phrases which are good to know.聽 I tend to use the words for basic stuff like asking to pay or asking for one more. That helps with wanting a draft beer often ;-).聽 I use directions sometimes but most tuktuk drivers speak English seems to me so I get along okay.

Yes, I'll keep in touch. I prefer the calmer places but with facilities around. Big appartement ground floor ( no flooding regions) or 1rst floor,聽 big kitchen,聽 big balcony, swimmingpool. But I already sah there's a lot of real nice offers.

I still have to get more knowledge of expat health insurance.

I'm really looking forward to get to know more of your very friendly people, you history ,etc.
