remember is your carelesness that caurse it, and is not the duty of police to be looking for lost phone, no police in this world we help you look for such things, how many phones and items carelessly lost inside taxi per day, if polce are involving in that means they will not have anything doing again,
learn your lesson and buy another phone.
The police are not responsible for lost items anywhere in the world. Except in the case of a lost passport or other ID documents where as it is just a good idea to file a "loss report" to police just in case your ID is found and reported or used illiegally.
In fact many taxis have either a sign or a recording when the meter is stopped reminding passengers to take all their belongings. In any case the taxi driver or company is NOT responsible for lost items.
Buy another phone and be more responsible.
Kris
All you can do is being careful next time or cursing the one took your mobile.

In that case...China should have an umbrella police division for all the lost umbrellas. Everyday people in Shenzhen carry an umbrella just as much as their mobile phones.here they carry umbrellas for health reasons... like staying as white as possible on sunny days or not getting wet on rainy days lol!
Welcome to China Jojolam!!!!

China have the best security system in the world take it or not,
thats why you see one of the biggerst and most populous country in the world become most peaceful nation in the world, I have been into India the security there are porous.
just go and buy another one and forget about it. SORRY

I agree... never trust the media no matter where it comes from. However Jojolam... you are in China and the reality is... your phone is lost for good.
In other countries there is a "lost and found" office in most public areas such as train stations and airports, schools and what have not as well. We can also report lost articles such as wallets or other items of value to airport/ train and taxi security or police.
When it comes to cell phones... only an idiot would leave the SIM card in a found or stolen phone. Hence the chances of finding a lost phone is minimal even if the police bother to help locate it and that is why most local police departments won't bother.
No offence was intended towards you or India. I'm actually happy to learn that India is much better than the media makes it out to be. Just as I learned about China when I visited for the first time.

(In my past experience) GZ cabs have a steel grill between the driver and passenger. Hence the driver would have to notice the abandoned phone, pulled safely over, exited the vehicle and then re-entered via the rear door to retrieve the adandoned phone. This is highly unlikely. You're in GZ. The cab you left your phone in was most likely occupied the minute you stepped out of it and was probably taken by the next fare.
Assuming the driver took it is an unfair assumption and accusation.
Stop convincing yourself it was stolen... it wasn't...you lost it and deal with it.
Cheers!

no police can accuse anybody of taking phone or lost items on the road or transport anywhere in the world my dear, even if you can prove it thats is your own, the worst you can do is to appeal to the person to give you, because you have lost it is no longer you property and the taker may even have more evidence to prove it more than what you think, you may even be charge for accusion and assult,(covert tem toll) thats the language in law, if only you can understand it.
Somethings are Done for Good :p
reporting lost cell phone in cars is not bad, this is to discipline some drivers and to teach how to respect people.....

First, this is ´ó¿§¸£ÀûÓ°Ôº.Here are people from all over the world. We shouldn't emphasize on nation strongly. So I always define myself as a human being here as all others, not a Chinese.
Second, say something as a Chinese. We Chinese always think Harmony is precious.Conflicts are not good.
