The best age to move to China

Cheryl

Hello everybody,

No two people experience expatriation in China in the same way, depending on their age and personal situation. We would like to know more about you and ask you to share with us when you decided to move to China.

How old were you when you moved to China? Did you go alone or with your family?

In your opinion, was it the right time to move there?

Do you find this country welcoming for your age group or for certain categories in particular? Why or why not?

Are there any incentives (financial aid, lower taxes, etc.) and for which category of expats?

In your opinion, is there an ideal age to move to China?

Thank you for your contribution!

Hello, tbh it depends where in China from my understanding. I came to China at 28 and it was midland china (the real china) I have to admit it was way too old to be living in midland china, you can accept a lot more when your younger and know no better.

When your older even just existing or being a part in the majority of situations is unbearable, totally painful.. but again it depends on your background.. there are people from african countries here who came from poor conditions with minimal hygiene etc / poor salaries and minimal job opportunities or even danger, so China is like a safe haven for them.. myself however did not need to come to china at all, I did not need the money, I did not need the job, I just simply came because I love adventure, the unknown and challenges.. never knew there were such challenges as to what I experienced in midland china. It's the greatest achievement of my life, I still can't believe I survived 2 years of that with my mental health in tact (as far as I am aware) it is the most lonely, isolating, revolting, depressing situation beyond my wildest imagination (and I have one hell of an imagination) I lived in the countryside of Chengdu. the younger the better definitely, if its a tier 1 city however then any age is pretty much fine but the cost of living is staggering! again it all comes down to how you were brought up, your background and your own living/overall standards
