DP Reached IMM Decision Stage. Where Is My EP Now?

Hi everyone, I鈥檓 currently in the middle of the Employment Pass (EP) Category 1 application process, and I would really appreciate some clarification based on your experience.

My company is applying for my EP as well as Dependent Passes (DP) for my wife and 1 child. I received the following updates from HR:

Timeline / Status Updates:

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 24 Nov 2025: Employer submitted EP Cat-1 + DP applications via ESD

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 4 Dec 2025: HR informed me that my EP status shows:

鈥渋n MDEC : Verification Stage鈥�

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 8 Dec 2025: HR then updated that both Dependent Pass applications are already:

鈥渋n IMM : Decision Stage鈥� (as of 8 December)

My Questions:

1.My EP appears as 鈥淢DEC Verification鈥� based on the last update (4 December 2025)

Does this usually mean for now, the EP is also already with Immigration?

2. In terms of processing flow, which one actually moves first聽 EP or DP?

I鈥檝e read mixed information online:

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Some say EP must pass MDEC first, and only then can both EP and DP proceed to Immigration (IMM)

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Some say DP can move ahead in the system first, and the EP will follow

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Others say DP cannot progress at all unless the EP is already released to Immigration

For those who went through this recently, which one is accurate based on actual cases?

3. If the Dependent Pass has already reached 鈥淚MM: Decision Stage鈥�, does this usually indicate that the EP has already passed MDEC verification?

I want to understand if the DP reaching IMM typically means the EP is already there too.

4. Based on your experience, how long does it normally take from:

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 IMM: Decision Stage 鈫� Approved (for Dependent Pass)

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 IMM: Decision Stage 鈫� Approved (for EP Category 1)

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Are there any differences in speed between EP and DP approvals?

5. Is it common for the EP/DP status on ESD to lag behind the actual internal processing?

If you鈥檝e had cases where the status updated later than the real processing progress, please share your experience.

Hi all,

Sharing a technical update on my EP/DP application for reference:

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 My Employment Pass (EP) has been approved, and I received the EP Approval Letter today (17 December 2025)

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 The application has cleared Stage 1 (MDEC verification) and Immigration approval, and is now pending the endorsement (ePASS) process, which will be completed after entry into Malaysia.

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 I have been advised to proceed with the Reference Visa (e-Visa) application using the EP Approval Letter.

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 My Dependent Pass (DP) applications (spouse and one child) are still in progress and currently pending Stage 1 completion. The DP approval letters will be issued once Stage 1 is approved.

Sharing this in case it helps others who are in a similar EP + DP submission scenario.

It appears that everything is in working order and has been or will be processed accordingly. We have nothing to whinge about when it comes to the ESD, TC or the Malaysian Immigration. They are efficient and clean. Very happy with them.
