You need live above 5,000 foot here for such.  Many area's will do.  Look at a map. Then when here look for pine trees.  Good sine there as to cool. Davio has some area close to town. Near the echo park. North of Angles 60k. It snowed once last year in the northern Philippines as well. High elevation. Look at a map and try for a area with a inversion off the ocean. Sea wind day mountain air sinking at night. Look at a mat to pick area.

Try also checking out Tagaytay. Its nearer Manila/Makati, good schools, hospitals, govt agencies etc. Baguio and Sagada are nice but too jam packed during holidays.

Tagaytay is also very crowded during tourist season and only one main road through town...Rush hour is brutal...

Thanks everyone!  I thought of Tagaytay...but as  commented about...it can get quite crowded on weekends and holidays.  I went there once...indeed, it was packed!  I researched other cool areas...I was amazed to learn there are several other "cool" places but not as jampacked as  Baguio, Sagada, or Tagaytay.  Don Salvador Benedicto on Negros Island...and Kanlaon City, also on Negros; Banawe in Ifugao Province, and several others in Mindanao.  I am saddened to read the latest comments about Baguio...overcrowded and no longer has that charming appeal that I experienced on my trips there...many years ago.  One comment stated:  "It has become Manila!"   Anyone out there been to Lantapan near Malaybalay, Bukidnon?  It's at 4,000' elevation and doesn't get hit by typhoons.  For now, I will settle on focusing on the high towns in Negros.  Been to Bacolod and Dumaguete...but never in the interior....except during a bus trip I took from Dumaguete to Bacolod by way of crossing over the mountains through the interior of southern Negros...then up north to Bacolod.  I learned that the islands between Luzon and Taiwan (Babuyan Islands?) experience rather cold temperatures...and actually have four seasons...unlike the rest of the Philippines having only two seasons.   Anyone care to comment on their experience or first hand knowledge of the two towns mentioned in the heart of Negros Island (on the way up to Kanloaon Volcano)?  Wait a minute!  Isn't that area controlled by the NPA?

James Mitchell and others....thanks.  I have noted your comments and keep them in mind.  Now that I have learned of other "cool" places in the Philippines...I am expanding my research to other areas south of Luzon.  I remember going on a location shooting with a movie crew from Sampaguita Pictures to Mount Makiling.  Went all the way to the top...it felt so refreshingly cool.  Are there any towns on the mountain?  I only remember stopping at Calamba to eat before heading up the mountain.  Anyway...appreciate your comments and advice...hope I continue to get them in this forum.  Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat!

Thank you for the suggestion, Ms Billygoat99!  I have only been to Tagaytay once with a group of friends.  Love it there!  Fortunately for me, I only have to worry about finding friendly and caring people to hang out with...and clean, open air environment.  And of course, from the practical standpoint,  must have adequate health care providers and facilities...just in case.   Thinking more seriously about the prospect of living in Tagaytay.  If I do get to live there, I shouldn't have to concern myself with the crowd of tourists that overwhelm the area on holidays and vacation periods, do I?  I can always go somewhere...explore other areas tourists don't usually go to.  I really need a place...a home base to do my work:  Writing, researching (I enjoy doing ethnological field research...my major field of study in college), photography, and experimenting with indigenous cuisine.  No, I'm not a chef...not professionally, anyway.  Just love to fix different and exciting dishes using local ingredients.  And you're right, being close to Manila would be an advantage.  Many of my old friends there...are in the Metro Manila area.  Hopefully, they are still there.  Otherwise, I'd have to start a new circle of friends.

I am a native of benguet and I leave just 12 km from Baguio. I hope you had good time during your visit there. Well Baguio today is really congested because of the rising population. Have you seen our fire mummies there? That is one must see if you go to Baguio/Benguet. It is called fired mummies because they were mummified by smoke..How about the hanging coffins?

on the island I live, many expats live in the mountains for the cooler weather.. plus the land is much cheaper to buy (150-300p per sqm).  not many choices if you want to rent there, but there are a few.  its only about 8km from the town.

hi try living somewhere that has not yet been developed yet like brgy sto tomas or happy hallow. it's cold there most of the time since there are lots of trees

I ride my bike around the island.. I go to the gym.. I visit with my expat friends... hike up the mountain..  smile at the pretty girls.. you know, the usual expat type activities
and yes, there are many expats here. most live in the mountain coz the climate is much cooler
